FAKE FANS is a deep dive into the world of bootleg Pokémon cards — mistranslated relics that live on the fringes of collecting culture. Through personal anecdotes and a fascination with the quirks of the printing process, the zine explores how these unofficial cards have their own unique charm and history. Stuck within the pages are reproduced sticker bootlegs, turning the zine into a tactile collection that blurs the line between research and obsession.
In 2025, a second edition of FAKE FANS was produced with switched colours reformatted pages, reworded sections, and included new cards from the artists growing collection. An expanded postscript reflects on bootlegs as a kind of permission slip — embracing error, the freedom to reinterpretation and reprint.
